Notes to Competitors - not part of the SI’s and have no status in any protest.

  1. This year the organisers have reviewed the classes to be raced based on experience from previous years and have made the following changes which we hope will improve competitiveness and simplify racing and results. Very few boats entering Class 1 do not have an IRC certificate, similarly few boats in class 2 race under IRC. We have therefore dropped the dual handicap approach. Class 1 is now all IRC, with a slightly higher entry TCF. Class 2 is now all Club handicap.
  2. SI Part 2, section 2.2 is introduced to discourage fast Class 1 boats entering Class 2. In the event that you do not have a current IRC certificate but wish to race in Class 1 please contact the organisers ASAP. If you apply for, but cannot get an IRC certificate in time we can usually arrange a provisional rating for up to three weeks until the valid certificate arrives.
  3. The Classic Class has been introduced to satisfy popular demand for competition between gaffers/wooden/”old” boats.
  4. This year we will offer bottle prizes for the winners in each class with 3 or more starters. These will be presented in the bar at the same time as the results are announced. As this is intended as a fun event we will not present a bottle prize to the same boat twice in a row, in that case the prize will go to the next boat in the ranking. You need to be present at the time to collect your prize.
  5. The NoR and Part 1 SI’s are all published in the R Lym YC Racing and Cruising Programme booklet 2008, together with the list of marks and relevant chartlet. We suggest you keep one on board!
  6. We want to continually improve KB racing in Lymington. We need your feedback to do this. If there is something you particularly like, or something you thing we could improve  - please tell us, or fill in a feedback form.
  7. We hope you enjoy your Thursday racing! Please don’t forget to wave or shout a “thank you” to the Club’s volunteers on the platform, in the RIBs and in the results office who make it all possible.
  8. WARNINGS:

8.1  In certain conditions (eg. strong ebb and south-westerly wind) the Race Committee may use IC flag Z as the preparatory signal. This means that if a boat is on the course side in the last minute before her start, she will receive a 20% scoring penalty. Please refer to RRS 30.2 for official wording.

8.2 Note Part 1 SI 8.3, which restricts spinnaker usage in the river on a Club Line finish!
