01 February 2010

Dear Member,

It is already February and time to look forward to the 2010 season.

Last year proved to be very quiet for our X-332 Class. The X-Yachts Solent Cup was cancelled due to a lack of entries, which in its turn put paid to our National Championship which was due to be held in conjunction with it. This sad episode was put down to the effects of the credit crunch.

You are probably aware that X-Yachts are planning to try again this year, the dates being the 14th/15th May 2010 and being held under the banner of the Royal Southern Yacht Club. Your committee has not yet decided whether to run the event again in conjunction with the Solent Cup, Cork Week, which was so successful two years ago or to even holding our event within Dart Week. Your feedback would be most welcome but we need inputs quickly!

You will have noted that for some time now our website, www.X332.org.uk has not been accessible. This is due to a hiccup which Rick Waterhouse, our class chairman, is in the process of fixing. Sadly all files were lost and so he is has to rebuild from square one. We hope to have a working site again by the end of February. Once this is up and running, we hope that you will post your X-332 exploits for all to read. Our boats even with reduced numbers seem to get everywhere. We even had some good results in the 2009 Fastnet.

We need to keep our members together in the interests of preserving the resale values of our assets and so to this end we have decided that for this year only, we will reduce the subscription to £5 (or €5 for our members from the ROI). In an effort to become more green and in response to many members requests, I would like you to consider setting up an annual standing order in favour of the class association. Our bank details are as follows

Bank: <hidden from on line version>
Name of account: X332 Class Association
Sort Code:  <hidden>
Account No:  <hidden>

If you decide to do this, please e-mail me first to let me know. I will then e-mail in return an electronic version of the renewal form for you to complete, thus saving us all postage. This will include the full bank details which have been deleted  from the on-line version. Your membership card will be sent when I receive notification that your payment has reached our account. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CLEARLY IDENTIFY YOURSELF IN THE SO or else I may have difficulty in knowing that you have in fact paid.

If by any chance you have sold your boat, please do let us know and if possible where it has gone.

I wish you fair winds and good sailing in 2010 and hope to see you on the water somewhere during the season.

Yours sincerely

John Noe
